The Cuvée Prestige comes from the oldest vineyard plots of the domain, those already cultivated by the Franciscan monks. The vines are planted on limestone subsoil. This rock has two main specificities : storing excess of water to redistribute it in case of dryness and storing heat during the day to restore it at night. The Saumur-Champigny - Cuvée Prestige has an excellent ability to age. Le Clos des Cordeliers was marked into the first « Classification des Vins du Monde » (A. Julien, 1830). |
